  • A Warm Winter Wonderland

Last week my wife and I traveled to Cabo and had a wonderful stay at the Wyndham Cabo San Lucas Resort right on the Marina in the heart of downtown Cabo.  We left San Diego airport on a cold and rainy day on Alaska airlines and less than two hours later, we were in sunny and beautiful 70 degree weather in Cabo San Lucas.  Going through customs was very easy as the nice flight attendant helped us to fill out our entry visas and visitor cards before we landed.  When we left the airport, our shuttle driver from Cape Travel was waiting just as our pre-arrival concierge Chuck told us he would be.  He took our bags and offered us some bottled water and our Cabo adventure began.

Cabo is an interesting mix of desert and beach landscape.  About ten minutes out of the airport, we started seeing the beautiful blue Pacific Ocean as we drove into the heart of Cabo San Lucas.  Along the way, we saw several of the nightspots we had read about before our trip including El Squid Row, Senor Frogs, Hard Rock Café and of course our favorite Cabo Wabo which is just a few blocks away from the Wyndham Cabo San Lucas Resort where we are staying.  The staff could not have been friendlier as they helped us with our bags and escorted us to the front desk for our check in.  Amelia the concierge visited with us and told us all of the things going around in the local area and offered to assist us with our planning any excursions we wanted to do while on our trip.

Our room was very nicely furnished and we were given complimentary wi-fi access so we were able to communicate with our family and let them know we were at our hotel.  Here are some pictures of our room and our breath-taking view of the marina.

On our first night, we had dinner at the Hacienda Restaurant which was highly recommended and did not disappoint.

The next day we had a great breakfast at the resort’s Agave Azul Restaurant and hung around the resort pool and shopped at some of the local markets nearby picking up little souvenirs for our family.  We met up with friends in the evening had dinner at one of the restaurants on the marina that had a great seafood special and then rocked out at Cabo Wabo.

We spent the next day at nearby Medano Beach which was a five minute water taxi ride away and later that night set sail on a romantic sunset cruise aboard the Cabo Mar.  It was a great evening with food and dancing and a crew that made sure everyone was having a great time.  It was amazing the see the incredible rock formations at “Land’s End” up close.

On our third day, we had a lovely tour of the resort from Valerie and Amelia set us up on a great snorkeling trip.  We spent our last night visting some of the more popular local establishments including Senor Frog’s, Squid Roe and the Nowhwere Bar.  We finished the evening at Pepe’s Tacos which were the best tacos we ever tasted.  The bistec con queso with hot salsa were delicious.

Overall, we had an amazing visit to this special place and can’t wait to go back with our family.  The Wyndham team made us feel like family and we can’t wait to return.
